Hello, everyone! I am glad this community is here because I really need some help. Tomorrow is mine and the love of my life's one year anniversary. We've really been through hell and back in this short time and we're both really excited that we have stuck together.

I feel kind of bad because I recently lost my job and can't get him anything too special for our anniversary. What makes me feel worse is that I know that he is getting me something pricey.

What can I make for him that'll be really cute that he would appreciate? I was thinking cup cakes with toothpicks sticking out that had memories/reasons why I love him written on them, like a flag. (I know that is so corny but I think he'd like that...)

I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Hello everyone,
I'm in a very intense program at University and rarely have time for this Community (which makes me really sad), and I've noticed this community does get spammed a lot. Now that Exams are over, I'm hoping I'll be able to update and moderate this place a lot more!! However, I'm still looking for a few people who would be willing to help out moderating this community. Please comment here or message me if your interested! Thanks!

Hey! I just wanted to ask what you guys thought for a cool gift idea!

This guy, who I absolutely adore, is leaving in less than a month to travail the world. And I wanted to find a really cool gift for him. I want something practical so that it isn't completely useless to carry but something also sentimental so that he thinks of me. It needs to be light since he'll be going everywhere with it.

I've thought about a compass, which is pretty cool. And I found these cool sundial necklaces/key chains which tell time - I'm leaning towards the sundial necklace actually because I don't think he'll be carrying keys.

Do you guys have any ideas? He's starting Montreal and then going to India so I already ruled out beautiful scarfs and gloves.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I am SO glad I found this community!

Okay, so my best friend's birthday is in a little less than a month (October 29th, if you need to know). We've never given each other generic gifts that we just found in a store...we've always been creative about it.

Last year, I asked EVERY friend that we shared to tell me why they loved her. And I took every answer, wrote them individually on scraps of paper and put them in a 'Love' jar. I actually had so many answers that I had to get another jar...

I kind of want to out-do that idea. I REALLY loved that idea but it's not as if I can repeat it. Also, this year is our first year in college (DIFFERENT colleges) and I want her to know that she's still my best friend and nothing will change that.

...any suggestions? I've done the jar, I crocheted her a scarf, I made her a poster with our top ten inside jokes on it, and (I'm a poet) I wrote her a poem and put it on a huge poster with a big picture of us on it.

Hi, everyone, I just joined this community because I have a dilemma.
My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I have no money to spend on a present for him. The relationship is quite serious and I'd really like to maybe make him something or come up with a cheap way to show him I care.

I would appreciate any ideas you all could give me!

His interests:

- Basketball (Celtics team, Kevin Garnett)
- Will Farrell movies.
- Superbad-type movies.
- Adult Swim cartoons.
- Appreciates romantic things.
- Partying.
- Anything a 19-year-old guy typically likes.

Thank you so much!

It’s my best friend’s birthday in a couple of weeks and I made a gift for her. I wanted to do something special this year instead of just buying something. So I made her something personal. I found a great idea for a gift on the internet and it turned out really good for me, so I thought I’d share it. You don’t have to be very artistic or handy to make it, but you do need some patience. What you need is a deck of cards (52 cards), some glue, a hole puncher and 2 binder rings.

I'm so glad to have found this community! I have been racking my brain, but I am not sure what I should get my aunt. My mother has four sisters and my aunt Nancy is one of her younger sisters. Nancy's 50th birthday is tomorrow and I'm taking her and her daughter/my cousin out for lunch with my 4-month-old son and myself. I want to get her a gift because a) she's my aunt, b) she's turning 50, c) she just bought my son his Easter outfit as a gift (and spent way too much on it, but, hey, it came from Gymboree), and d) she has offered (and probably will do it) to keep my son two days a week this fall when I return to teaching part-time.

She gardens and crochets and reads and has three cats, but I am not really sure what to get her because she has everything. She is a doctor's wife so she can pretty much buy herself anything she wants. I do not know her as well as my own mom or my friends so it makes it harder to shop for her even though she is a woman and, hello, I can usually think of stuff to get any woman. Her diet is restricted because she has Crohn's disease plus ulcerative colitis (sp?) so food gifts are probably out. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Just in time for Valentine's day, here is a tutorial on how to make a bouquet of roses out of money. This bouquet may cost many times more than a fresh bouquet but it will practically stay in full bloom forever. If you ever grow tired of it, you can even disassemble it and spend it on something more practical.

Hello, if this community is still active! I need a little help.

I'm looking for a gift for my boyfriend... We've been seeing each other since August, but VERY casually until recently. Things have just started to get a little more serious, and his birthday is coming right up.

He's a pretty conservative guy, traditional, clean cut, southern guy transplanted to the northeast. Plays football for fun but not seriously, is really into U.S. history, likes to barbeque (not helpful with a winter birthday but thought I'd include it), loves Indiana Jones. I'm a fairly crafty person and at first I thought I'd try to make him something... but he's not the type to wear any jewelry or hang up collage type art or anything like that.

I'm stuck! Any helpful suggestions would be super appreciated. Thanks

(x-posted a bit, sorry)
